Thursford Christmas Spectacular 2021

Four decades of Christmas tradition is coming back to life from next month with the return of the Thursford Christmas Spectacular.

The annual show was launched in 1977 but was halted last year by Covid-19.

This year the show will run from November 9 to December 23 with a cast of 130 performers, alongside variety acts including eccentric and energetic British-Armenian comedian Kev Orkian and acrobats Billy George on the Cyr Wheel and gravity-defying duo Delfina & Bartek.

Also returning to the stage is theatre organist Phil Kelsall on Thursford’s Mighty Wurlitzer – one of the largest remaining Wurlitzers in Europe and the centre piece for the show.

Director John Cushing OBE said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be back this year with our Christmas Spectacular show.

“We cannot wait to welcome the thousands of you back through our doors and give you the most extravagant Spectacular show yet. It has been a challenging couple of years for so many and we want to provide as much joy, over the festive period, as we possibly can.”

The festivities also see the return of the Enchanted Journey of Light, a walk-through experience for all ages that includes am indoor wonderland trail of steam engines, kinetic fairy-tale characters and an immersive light and sound experience that leads to a four-acre Lantern Light Extravaganza of outdoor luminous sculpture.

  • Tickets can be booked via the Thursford website; prices start from £38 for the Christmas Spectacular, and £16 for the Enchanted Journey of Light, plus booking fees.
