The first shows from Suffolk’s forest theatre’s summer 2027 programme have been announced.
Thorington Theatre opened in woodland near Southwold in 2021, taking advantage of a bomb crater to create a wooden amphitheatre in the middle of the trees.
It’s 2027 programme will include two chances to catch Shakespeare plays, with Four Fourty Theatre performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream on 21 June, and The Pantaloons production of Loves Labours Lost on 12 August.
The Pantaloons will also be performing on 8 July, bringing Jane Austen’s Regency rom-com Persuasion to the stage, and on 15 July with The (Almost) Complete Myths and Legends of Britain, a rummage through the weird and wonderful in an attempt to cover the entirety of British folklore in under two hours.
The great fictional detective is persuaded to come out of retirement in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on 19 August, presented by Packing Shed Theatre.
